I've been having a terrible time since upgrading to Win 8 I've had terrible control over my cursor with no options to adjust anything with the latest driver from ASUS (only options to turn on or off certain gestures? what's up with that?). I meant to add that the updated Synaptics one lets you disable that specific gesture so, ISSUE is RESOLVED! In any case, the above linked drivers will give you the best (imo) combination of settings/configurable options without the W8 gestures, and if you want the gestures, you can upgrade to the first Synaptics drivers posted (not the more recent ones). Every now and again my touchpad does act up and momentum stops working at which point a suspend/resume will fix it (I had this issue with the G73JH also and older Synaptics drivers so I believe this to be an inherent Synaptics driver problem somewhere). The latest driver seems to work fine, but the lack of momentum configuration basically is a no-go for me. When I go to the latest Synaptics driver posted, it causes me issues unless I uninstall previous and install fresh. I personally installed this driver, enabled momentum and momentum scrolling and then upgraded to the first ASUS released Windows 8 driver which allows my touchpad to support the gestures while keeping momentum (no configurable option, but the functionality continues to work post upgrade). Personally I love momentum and momentum scrolling as the touchpad is rather large and it means much less moving around. They do not provide the Windows 8 gestures, and they have momentum as a configurable option. You could always remove the version of the Synaptics drivers provided by ASUS and install these:
